ELIGIBILITY
-
Must be a female, African American high school senior.

Must reside in Delaware County, PA
-
Must attend a high school in Delaware County, PA
-
Must have a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
-
Must be actively involved in the community
-
Must be planning to attend a four-year institution during the 2025/2026 school year
APPLICATION GUIDELINES
Application Packet MUST include the following five (5) items:

Cover Page;
-
Complete Application;
-
Official High School Transcript;
-
Letter of Recommendation - One letter of recommendation from an agency or community organization where you have volunteered (cannot be related to the applicant);

Essay: 400 - 500 word essay responding to ONE of the questions below:

“Describe how community service has made you a better person.”
“Which Community Service project are you most proud of and why?”
"Describe your most meaningful leadership experience and explain why it was most meaningful."

DEADLINE
Applications must be received no later than Saturday, February 15, 2025. One recipient will be chosen and notified by February 15, 2025.

RULES
Upload submissions together with a cover page. One entry per student. Essay must be postmarked by February 15, 2025.
Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Rho Chi Zeta Chapter reserves the right to extend the deadline when appropriate. The essay must be solely the work of the entrant. Plagiarism will result in disqualification. All entries become the property of the Rho Chi Zeta Chapter and will not be returned.

One-inch margin on all sides of the page

Essay must be no fewer than 400 and no more than 500 words in length

Essay must be submitted electronically (.doc or .pdf) format.

Essay submitted in any other format will not be considered.

SCHOLARSHIP JUDGING AND SELECTION
JUDGING
Applications are judged and assigned points based on the following:

GPA (20 pts)
-
Letter of recommendation (5 pts.)

Community Service Agency Engagement (15 pts.),
-
Essay
-
Content/Organization (20 pts.)
-
Style/Punctuation/Grammar/Spelling (20 pts.)
-
Clarity, flow and organization (20 pts.)
-
The decisions of the Scholarship Committee are final.

NOTIFICATION TO STUDENT
-
The scholarship recipient will be notified by February 15, 2025
-
Scholarship recipients must provide proof of attendance to a four-year institution during the 2025/2026 school year no later than June 30, 2025.
-
All scholarships will be payable directly to the educational institution where the recipient enrolls.

Selected scholarship recipients agree to allow Rho Chi Zeta to post their names on any of their affiliated websites.

Contest winner agrees to allow Rho Chi Zeta to post their name on any of the affiliated websites.
-
Rho Chi Zeta reserves the right to post, publish, or otherwise duplicate any essay entered into the contest without payment.

Presentation of the scholarship will take place on March 22, 2025, during the 25th Anniversary of the Rho Chi Zeta Chapter's Blue Revue ceremony. Sponsorship of the awardee and one guest will be provided by the chapter. Must be available to accept award in person.
